Shortly after 1 p.m. on Friday, April 18th, a "Working Fire." Box 45-35, was ordered for the fire in the large, 3-story, multi-residential building at 156 Magazine Street.
Engine 6 (from the River Street fire house) arrived on scene first, with fire & smoke showing from the roof. Engine 6 used the fast attack via deck gun to knock down heavy fire on the roof. Simultaneously, engine companies established water supplies & stretched multiple attack lines, while truck companies opened up & overhauled, & searches for residents were completed.
If not for the aggressive & coordinated fire attack by firefighters, the results could have been far more devastating.
Approximately 45 firefighters from Engines 6, 2, 5, & 3; Ladders 3, 1, 2, & 4; Squads 3, 4, & 2; & Rescue 1 worked on scene.
No injuries were reported at the time of the fire.
The cause is under investigation
