Working Fire Box 45-5114

On the evening of April 7, 2025, a Working Fire was ordered, Box 45-5114 for the fire on floor 7 of the 8 story, mixed occupancy building at 114 Mount Auburn Street.
 
Following the automatic alarm & arriving on scene with smoke in the building, the Division 2 chief ordered the full assignment. First-due Engine 1 (from the Hovey Avenue fire house) immediately stretched a hi-rise pack hose line from the standpipe & operated on the fire while ladder companies opened a wall to complete extinguishment.
The working fire was ordered to ensure that RIT (rapid intervention team) companies were in place while other companies established a positive water supply, completed searches for occupants, checked for further extension, & ventilated.
Two sprinkler heads had operated to contain the fire to the room of origin until fire companies arrived on scene. Firefighters from 4 engines, 3 ladders, 3 squads, & Rescue 1 worked on scene.

A Belmont Engine Company and a Somerville Ladder Compnay coverd in Cambrdge during the fire. (Actually the Somerville Ladder responded from Cambridge Ladder 4's house to an unrelated emergency in North Cambridge.)

All out: 1058 p.m.
Duty: Group 1
IC: DC R Walsh

 

Cambridge Police Department officers were on scene for traffic diversion & pedestrian safety.
Pro EMS provided the EMS standb
The MBTA diverted bus traffic in the area..
Cambridge Inspectional Services ISD inspectors also responded for evaluation.
TY as always for the Emergency Communications staff for excellence under pressure on another busy night.
