Road Closures for the 2024 Cambridge Half Marathon + 5K on Sunday, November 3

Expect road closures and traffic impacts on Sunday, November 3 due to the Cambridge Half Marathon + 5K.

The race begins and ends at CambridgeSide in East Cambridge. It is a fast and flat course through Cambridge featuring MIT, John W. Weeks Footbridge, Harvard Stadium, Charles River, and Harvard Square.  Beginning at 7 a.m., the first round of participants will travel down Memorial Drive to the John W. Weeks Footbridge through Harvard Stadium and back along the Charles River and Memorial Drive crossing the finish line on First Street near the intersection of Spring Street.

Roads along the course will close during the event. Expect road closures in the area between 5 a.m. and noon on Sunday. A block of Hurley Street between First Street and Second Street (near CambridgeSide) will also close all day on Saturday, November 2, while organizers set up for the race. 

The following roads will close before and/or during the event on Sunday:

·      Land Blvd will be closed from Binney St to Memorial Dr, 6:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.

·      Memorial Dr Westbound from First St to Gerry’s Landing, 6:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.

·      Memorial Dr Eastbound from Gerry’s Landing to First St, 6:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.

·      First St, from Cambridge St to Memorial Dr, 5 a.m. - noon

·      Otis St, from Second St to First St, 5 a.m. - noon

·      Thorndike St, from Second St to First St, 5 a.m. - noon

·      Spring St, from Second St to First St, 5 a.m. - noon

·      Hurley St, from Second St to First St, all morning until noon

·      Charles St, from Second St to First St, 5 a.m. - noon

·      Bent St, from Second St to First St, 5 a.m. - noon

·      Rogers St, from Second St to First St, 5 a.m. - noon

·      Binney St, from Second St to First St, 5 a.m. - noon

·      Linskey Way, from Second St to First St, 5 a.m. - noon

·      Athenaeum St, from Second St to First St, 5 a.m. - noon


Bridge closures: 

  • Western Avenue Bridge: 6:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.
  • River Street Bridge: 6:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.
  • Anderson Memorial Bridge:6:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.
