The City will hold a public meeting on the climate change vulnerability assessment Wednesday, Jan. 29, at 6 p.m., at the Senior Center, 806 Mass. Ave., Cambridge. 

This participatory meeting will include a discussion on why the City is planning for impacts from climate change and seek input from the community to better understand how climate change impacts would affect residents and businesses, assess how resilient Cambridge already is, and identify what more needs to be done to cope with climate change impacts such as flooding and increased heat.

Agenda

Meeting Goals:

  1. Introduce the Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment process
  2. Share findings to date (existing conditions, climate projections, and outreach findings)
  3. Gather input on anticipated community impacts to include in the assessment

            Welcome and introduction – John Bolduc (Cambridge Community Development Department), Lisa Dickson (Kleinfelder), Ona 
             Ferguson (Consensus Building Institute)

6:20     Project Intent and Purpose 
            The importance of this assessment - Owen O’Riordan (Cambridge Department of Public Works), Sam Lipson (Cambridge Public 
             Health) and Brian Murphy (Cambridge Community Development Department)

6:40     Overview of Work to Date
            Description of the public process carried out in 2013 and development of existing conditions and climate projections, with question 
            and answer period – John Bolduc, Lisa Dickson and Nathalie Beauvais (Kleinfelder)

7:10     Discussion of Community Impacts 
            Participants will work in small groups to share their thoughts on how possible climate change impacts might affect their daily lives.

8:15     Overview of Next Steps 
            Review of next steps and next meetings.
