2015 Cambridge Dispatcher of the Year Kristen Cherubino

The City of Cambridge Emergency Communications Department is joining in the nationwide celebration of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week April 10-16 to acknowledge the dedicated dispatchers who handle several thousand 9-1-1 calls each month. They dispatch Cambridge police officers and firefighters, coordinate with other local and national law enforcement agencies, fire departments, and emergency medical services, and assist the public during routine and emergency situations. This nationwide effort began in 1991 when Congress dedicated the second week of April to honor the women and men who serve as public safety telecommunicators.

“The Emergency Communications Department recognizes the incredible job that the women and men of the Emergency Communication Center do in order to act calmly and collected in their positions as the first, first responders to any emergency in Cambridge,” said Christina Giacobbe, Director of Emergency Communications and 911 at the City of Cambridge. “Their ability to consistently help any caller, young or old, scared or angry, in distress or acting in their civic duty, is illustrative not only of their professionalism, but also of their commitment to public service and public safety.”

While the Emergency Communications Department appreciates all its staff throughout the year and especially during this week, the Department is especially pleased to announce the 2015 Dispatcher of the Year: Kristen Cherubino. Dispatcher Cherubino has been a dedicated employee since 2011 and her positive attitude, professional knowledge, courage, foresight, alertness, skill, and willingness to go above and beyond in the call of duty make her an excellent selection for this recognition.

Dispatcher Cherubino will receive a Commendation for the exceptional job she does for the Department and the Cambridge community. In closing, we salute all of our dispatches for their dedicated service throughout the year and around the clock to support their public safety partners in the field, and to help keep the public safe.
