Residents of Cambridge of any age are invited to submit one poem of their own work to the 2017 Sidewalk Poetry Contest. Submissions will be accepted February 15 – March 15, 2017.
The deadline for submissions is 11:59pm on Wednesday, March 15, 2017.
We invite the poet in each of you to join us in this celebration of the power of words and community by submitting your poem for consideration! The inaugural contest attracted over 300 submissions from residents ages 4 to 95, demonstrating the ageless appeal of poetry.
The Sidewalk Poetry Program is a collaborative project of the City of Cambridge Department of Public Works, the Cambridge Public Library and the Cambridge Arts Council. Poems will be reviewed by a selection committee composed of representatives from Public Works, the Library, and Cambridge Arts, former Poet Populists, a Cambridge high school student, and other local poetry professionals. Winning poets and runners up will be notified of selection in April and will be invited to read at the Poetry Tent at the Cambridge Arts River Festival, June 3, 2017.
