The community brainstorming and idea submission phase for the fourth cycle of Participatory Budgeting(PB) came to a close on July 31st, with 608 ideas submitted in total – the most of any PB cycle so far.
PB is a democratic initiative that gives Cambridge community members the power to decide how to spend $800,000 of the City’s FY19 Capital Budget. The City hopes that PB will help directly involve residents in the budgeting and City-building process, foster civic engagement and community spirit, and help ensure that the City’s Capital Plan reflects the priorities of Cambridge residents.

The next step in the process is for Volunteer Budget Delegates to review the submissions and develop final proposals for the ballot in December 2017. Additional information about Cambridge's Participatory Budgeting can be found at pb.cambridgema.gov.
