Join the City of Cambridge in celebrating National Women’s Business Month in October to highlight the many women-owned businesses in the city and their important role in a strong, diverse, local economy. City sponsored events, workshops, and networking opportunities will be held throughout the month to provide resources unique to women businesses owners and entrepreneurs.
The City of Cambridge today announced the opening of the new Timothy J. Toomey, Jr. Park in East Cambridge, located on Rogers Street between Second Street and Third Street. The dedication ceremony will be held on Saturday, October 2 at 10 a.m.
Maurice Morris, 30, Brockton, and Che Meranda, 29, Boston, were arrested on numerous warrants out of Cambridge District Court following a thorough investigation into an early evening shooting that took place on August 25.
In honoring his dedication, loyalty to his home city, and years of exemplary service to that city, the City Council and City Manager will be renaming the maintenance area within the Ryan Garage at 147 Hampshire Street in honor of Sydney Cox on Monday, September 20th. This area will be known as the “Sydney James Cox Maintenance Facility”.
The City of Cambridge today announced that on September 25, 2021, the first Miyawaki Forest in the Northeast US will be planted at Danehy Park in North Cambridge. A collaboration between Biodiversity for a Livable Climate and the SUGi Project, in partnership with the City of Cambridge, the 4,000 square foot microforest pioneers the innovative Miyawaki method of reforestation in this region.
During the week of September 13th, 2021 Cambridge Technical Rescue companies, along with our UASI (Urban Area Security Initiative) partners from area Metro fire departments, participated in a hands-on Structural Collapse exercise at the Moon Island Boston Fire Training Complex.
These efforts, being led by the city’s Domestic and Gender-Based Violence Prevention Initiative (DGBVPI), are part of a larger community-based effort where several entities, including local non-profit organizations and community groups are assessing best practices in providing comprehensive and inclusive support of all members of the Cambridge community.
