The Baker-Polito Administration announced a new initiative, the Vax Express, to help further increase access to the COVID-19 vaccine, particularly in communities with low vaccination rates. The Vax Express aims to further increase the Commonwealth’s vaccination rate by offering a unique, and community-focused approach to encourage more people to get vaccinated. Massachusetts continues to be a national leader in vaccination rates with 80 percent of adults having received at least one dose and over 3.9 million residents fully vaccinated.
In observance of Juneteenth, City of Cambridge offices, libraries, and senior centers will be closed on Friday, June 18. Cambridge Public Library will also be closed on Saturday, June 19.
The City of Cambridge’s Department of Public Works has a comprehensive storm water management program to improve the quality of the Charles River and Alewife Brook. As part of this program, it has released an informational video to highlight ongoing efforts to keep the City’s receiving waters clean as part of its Stormwater Program.
The City Manager’s Office of the Housing Liaison, Community Development Department, Human Rights Commission and the Department of Human Service Programs have launched Housed In Cambridge: Information to Open Doors, a city-wide campaign designed to educate and inform residents on housing opportunities and housing related resources and services.
This year, the city awarded 80 scholarships of $3,000 each for a total $240,000 to Cambridge high school seniors and others pursuing higher education. Since the program’s inception in 1993, the city has awarded 1,188 scholarships totaling $2.9 million.
The City of Cambridge today announced the winning design for the “I Voted Sticker” that will be used during the fall 2021 election season in Cambridge. The winning design by Cambridge Rindge and Latin School sophomore Evan Garvey was selected out of 55 submissions.
The Foundry Advisory Committee serves in an advisory capacity to the City of Cambridge and the Cambridge Redevelopment Authority (CRA), to help ensure that the Foundry building’s redevelopment and ongoing operation remains consistent with the Vision and Objectives established in the Demonstration Plan.
Cambridge City Manager Louis A. DePasquale is seeking volunteers to serve on a new Cambridge Black, Indigenous, People of Color-Owned (BIPOC) Business Advisory Committee. The goal of this group is to work with City staff to develop recommendations on how the City can better assist BIPOC-owned businesses.
