Our community is deeply saddened by the death of Brian Murphy, Assistant City Manager for Community Development. Brian was a dedicated husband and father, and a close personal friend to so many of us in this City.
We mourn the sudden loss of our colleague. Our community will in time come together to celebrate his life and the incredible contributions he made to our City and the Commonwealth.
Our focus at this moment is to support his loved ones and to respect his family as they grieve.

After 41 years with the force, Superintendent Steven Williams officially retired from the Cambridge Police Department this week. A special ceremony was held for Superintendent Williams on Monday, February 2, where he was joined by a room full of members of the Cambridge Police, MIT Police and City Hall.
Informational Transit Screens have been installed at three public buildings with support from a Healthy Aging Grant from the Massachusetts Councils on Aging, as part of the Mass in Motion program.
If you didn't get a chance to renew your 2014 permit due to the blizzard and closure of City buildings, we are extending the expiration of 2014 Permits through Wednesday, Feb. 4 to allow three additional days for residents to apply for 2015 permits.
