Free Menstrual Care and Infant Hygiene Products

Committee: Community Resources

Cost: $85,000

Location: City-owned properties (Cambridge Public Libraries, fire departments, city department buildings, youth centers).

Short Description: People who cannot afford hygiene products are forced to make difficult decisions. Help expand accessibility of menstrual and hygiene care products to include diapers, baby wipes, and other products in City buildings for three years.

Long Description:

Cambridge Public Library branches and various City buildings currently provide free menstrual hygiene products in their buildings’ women’s and gender-neutral bathrooms. Given the popular usage of these products, this proposal aims to expand upon the City’s existing efforts to provide these supplies by including diapers, baby wipes, and other hygiene products in all restrooms, including men’s restrooms in City buildings.
