Public Bathroom ($350,000)

Committee: Community Resources

Cost: $350,000

Location: Area with heavy foot traffic

Short Description: This proposal aims to build a third standalone outdoor public toilet in a high foot traffic area.

Long Description:

This proposal aims to fund the building of a third stand-alone public restroom in Cambridge. The Portland Loo is designed with open grating that preserves privacy while discouraging vandalism, crime or “camping out” in the space. It’s easy to clean and maintain. The current Portland Loos in Harvard and Central Squares see a lot of use from Cambridge residents and visitors alike.

This proposal would provide the City with a third Portland Loo location, increasing the availability of publicly accessible restrooms for residents and visitors.
