Upgrade the Moses Youth Center ($95,000)

Committee: Youth & Technology

Cost: $95,000

Location:  Moses Youth Center

Short Description:  Improving the quality and equipment of the Moses Youth Center by adding new furniture, upgrading technology and modernizing sports equipment & supplies.

Long Description:

The Drs. Robert and Janet Moses Youth Center is a long-standing institution of the Port community. The building hosts various youth programs, including afterschool, teen evening and Saturday programs. In addition, the facility hosts several internships for teens, providing first-time job experience for youth new to the workforce.  Each of the programs integrate STEAM and innovation learning, but the youth center is in need of technology upgrades.  Funds from participatory budget would allow the center to modernize its technology access for young people, increase STEAM-related classes and upgrade the furniture to support our welcoming, warm, safe environment. These funds will also be used to upgrade sports equipment and supplies.
