Committee: Facilities, Parks, and Recreation
Cost: $25,000
Location: Cambridge Youth Centers
Short Description: Paint the youth buildings in Cambridge with colors and patterns. Students and families from each youth center would participate in deciding the colors/design for each building and help with the painting to increase community involvement.
Long Description:
Research, according to NYC non-profit Publicolor, has shown that a warm and welcoming space increases productivity, attendance and learning retention. Colorful exteriors, hallways, and rooms are a simple and cost-effective way to help Cambridge's youth feel more comfortable in the buildings where they spend their time.
This proposal aims to bring together members of the community to beautify the interior and exterior of youth centers to create a more joyful and engaging building.
