Bicycle Parking that Doubles as Public Art

Committee: Street Smarts

Cost: $50,000 for 6 artistic bike racks

Location: To be determined based on need and impact assessments.

Short Description: Install 6 artist-designed bike racks will create functional public art while increasing available bike parking.

Long Description:
Studies show that bike parking facilities encourage more people to ride bikes. The Arts Council had an artist-designed bike rack competition a few years ago tied to Main Street reconstruction (see images below). This proposal would fund the installation of six eye-catching bike racks in more areas in the city where bike parking is needed.
