Nursing Pod for Breastfeeding and Pumping

Committee: Community Resources

Cost: $50,000

Location: A City owned building. Location to be determined based on need, impact, and space availability.

Short Description: Provide a clean, comfortable, and safe place for those who need to breastfeed babies or pump breast milk.

Long description:
Provide a clean, comfortable, and safe place for those who need to breastfeed babies or pump breast milk. Nursing pods are freestanding, mobile suites for pumping or breastfeeding in public places or while at work or out in the community. There is a need for private space for these purposes; public spaces, such as bathrooms, may lack the necessary cleanliness and privacy that a nursing pod can offer.

The City of Cambridge currently has a well-frequented pod in the main public library, this proposal aims to add an additional one in another public building.
