An analysis of the preliminary serious crime statistics for the 2023 points to a sizable increase of 11% in the
Part One index total for Cambridge when compared with 2022. There were 3,226 serious crimes reported in
the City throughout 2023. For the same time period in 2022, the combined total for Murder, Rape, Robbery,
Aggravated Assault, Burglary, Larceny & Auto theft was 2,895 incidents. When measured against the five year
average, a 24% rise in the crime index has been registered.
