Description

On Tuesday, October 8th from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., we shared plans for separated bike lanes and related street safety improvements on Main Street in Kendall Square. This project covers the section of Main Street between Ames Street and Galaxy Park. See below for a map of the project area. More about this project

This work is being done as part of the City's Cycling Safety Ordinance. The project will include the installation of separated bike lanes on each side of the street. We'll install separated bike lanes using quick-build materials, such as flex-posts and pavement markings. Major street reconstruction is not planned. 

At the open house, we will discuss the design of the project, gather feedback, and answer questions. Installation is planned for later this fall. More information on the draft project design can be found below.

 The design includes parking and separated bike lanes on both sides of the street. There are no changes to vehicle traffic.
