Main St Kendall Square Separated Bike Lane Installation to Begin This Week

Work to install separated bike lanes on Main St in Kendall Square will begin this week. We held a Community Open House to discuss the project on October 8th. Click here for more information, including information boards shared at that meeting and background information on the project.

Meter and Sign Work Has Begun

We've started installing new meter poles and signs that will match the project design. Click here to view the proposed parking and sign regulations. This work includes adding metered parking in much of the project area. Additional pick-up and drop off zones and handicap/disability parking spaces will be added as well. Few parking spaces will be removed.

Pavement Marking Installation Scheduled for Wednesday 10/23 and Thursday 10/24

This work will take place during the overnight hours beginning at 8 p.m. No overnight parking will be allowed. Paper signs will indicate the specific times that parking will be not allowed.

We expect work to continue the following week. During this time signs are markings will be changing. Please keep an eye out for changes. We expect all signs and markings to be complete by the end of next week, November 1st.

Flex-Post Installation Planned for Late November or Early December

In order to accommodate upcoming MBTA Red Line shuttling this November, we will not immediately install flex-posts. Tall traffic cones will reinforce the new parking layout during this time. We expect to install flex-posts in Late November.
